Jorge Valverde

Jorge Valverde

Adjunct Instructor

Jorge Valverde’s career in project management has spanned nearly two decades. He embarked on his professional journey in 2006 as part of a Microsoft Windows upgrade project at Pfizer Inc. This multi-year effort involved upgrading thousands of Windows profiles to the latest approved version of the time. Initially responsible for backing up users’ profiles, performing the upgrades, and restoring the profiles post-upgrade, Jorge quickly demonstrated his proficiency. Within a few months, he was promoted to lead a project team within the larger program, marking the beginning of his career as a project manager.

Since then, Jorge has successfully managed large-scale projects across several organizations, working with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver IT solutions on behalf of the business. In his most recent role at Santander Bank, he led a team of project managers and managed a portfolio of IT infrastructure projects. These projects included integrating the technology of a newly acquired bank and modernizing the infrastructure. Jorge also took pride in coaching and mentoring his team of project managers, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to achieve success. Jorge's dedication to his professional growth is evident in his educational accomplishments. He completed all his degrees and certifications while working. He holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute and actively encourages fellow project managers to pursue similar credentials. Jorge graduated from SUNY Empire State College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and earned his MBA from the Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts in 2024.

In his spare time, Jorge volunteers at the Project Management Institute NYC chapter, where he mentors new project managers. He looks forward to sharing the extensive project management knowledge he has gained throughout his career and learning from the students as well.
