Writers Reveal: Georgina Levitt in Conversation with Acclaimed Authors Lorna Graham and Meryl Frank
This series presents a rare opportunity to meet and converse with the most popular writers of today. From writers of literary and contemporary fiction, as well as memoir and prescriptive non-fiction, “Writers Reveal” will not only introduce students to hot off the press books and subject areas, but also offer a behind the scenes glimpse into the mind and practices of the authors who wrote them. In conversation with a different writer each week, Georgina Levitt (former Publishing Director and current NYU Adjunct Professor/Senior Program Advisor) will explore their newest masterpiece in a tableside conversation, followed by an intimate meet the author and question and answer session for students.
The featured authors and books for Summer 2025 are:
1- Where You Once Belonged by Lorna Graham (Contemporary Fiction)
Synopsis: A writer at Dateline NBC tries her hand at a different kind of mystery, perfect for fans of Chandler Baker’s Whisper Network, where a cynical TV news producer sells out her principles to rise to her network’s top job, and comes face-to-face with what appears to be her idealistic teenage self.
Lorna Graham is the author of The Ghost of Greenwich Village (Random House/Ballantine) and is a writer at Dateline NBC. She has written numerous documentaries, including Auschwitz, produced by Steven Spielberg and narrated by Meryl Streep, which competed at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Across numerous films, PSAs, and speeches, she’s written for Presidents Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, and Morgan Freeman.
2- Unearthed: A Lost Actress, a Forbidden Book, and a Search for Life in the Shadow of the Holocaust by Meryl Frank (Non-Fiction/Memoir)
Synopsis: A thrilling mystery woven into a beautifully constructed family memoir: Meryl Frank’s journey to seek the truth about a beloved and revolutionary cousin, a celebrated actress in Vilna before World War II, and to answer the question of how the next generation should honor the memory of the Holocaust.
Meryl Frank is an international champion of women’s leadership, human rights and political participation. She is currently the President of Makeda Global Network, an international consulting firm specializing in leadership and media training, messaging, and strategic planning. Frank was appointed as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) by President Barack Obama in February 2009. Frank was also Mayor of Highland Park, New Jersey from 2000 to 2010.
