Parenting Education

Parenting challenges are common, but effective strategies can significantly impact family well-being. This hands-on course will provide a comprehensive overview of key concepts in effective parenting, focusing on attachment theory, child development, and practical parenting strategies. You will learn how to foster healthy family dynamics, understand child behavior, and apply evidence-based practices to support both parental and child well-being. The course will also introduce you to the roles of various professionals involved in family support and how to integrate these practices into diverse settings such as community centers, non-profits, and healthcare environments. While advanced qualifications may be required for specific therapeutic interventions, this course will emphasize foundational knowledge that is crucial for any Parenting Educator.

This single course fulfills the requirements for the Certificate in Parenting Education (Accelerated).
This course meets the educational requirements for certification as a New York State Parent Educator through the New York State Parenting Education Partnership (NYSPEP). The instructor will help participants connect with a NYSPEP mentor to assist in submitting a portfolio that demonstrates skills and experience in supporting parents, in order to apply for the Parenting Educator Credential.
