Sue Wais (she/her) is the Director of Student Life at NYU's School of Professional Studies (SPS), boasting over 12 years of experience in Higher Education, particularly in residence life and student engagement. At SPS, Sue strategically directs the Office of Student Life, fostering a vibrant campus community through diverse programs and events. With a background spanning major east coast cities and the California Bay Area, Sue enriches her work with a diverse tapestry of experiences.

At SPS, Sue leads the charge in managing and strategically directing the Office of Student Life. Her vision is centered around enriching the student experience and fostering a strong sense of community through a diverse array of engaging programs and events. From organizing gatherings and outings to coordinating special events, Sue and her team work tirelessly to create opportunities for students to connect and flourish beyond the confines of the classroom.

Sue is a steadfast advocate for student involvement and empowerment. Whether students are interested in joining organizations, participating in leadership programs, or engaging in community service, the Office of Student Life stands ready to provide support and guidance at every turn. Sue encourages students to reach out with any questions or concerns, confident in the office's ability to help navigate the myriad of opportunities available.

Akim St.Omer is born, raised and still resides in Brooklyn, NY. He is a 2006 graduate of Boston College where he majored in Communications and Minored in Black Studies. He currently serves as the Marketing and Communications Co-Chair on the AHANA Alumni Advisory Council at Boston College. During his 23 year career, he has worked in a variety of schools and non-profit organizations. Currently, he is the Program Administrator for Student Engagement at NYU SPS where his role involves working with students and groups in an effort to enhance the student experience at SPS. Prior to that role he was the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism at the Girl Scouts of Greater New York. His work has been at the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion and how it impacts organizations.

Katherine Guanche is the newest member of the Office of Student Affairs for The School of Professional Studies at NYU. She is an Administrative Aide supporting Student Life. Her focus is on assisting Student Club organizations thrive.

She is an alumni of NYU Tisch School of the Arts. During her time at NYU she attended the Commedia Dell'Arte Program in Florence, graduated with honors from the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, and worked as a Production Coordinator at the Stonestreet Screen Acting Studios. After graduation she has had a plethora of jobs, in various fields, some of which include: event planning, real estate, stage managing and luxury home organizing.

Katherine is originally from Miami, Fl, but she considers herself a real New Yorker after living here for 10 years! She will be returning to school in the Fall to earn her Masters in Event Management at NYU’s  School of Professional Studies. She is very excited to make an impact in the world of Higher Education by creating memorable events for Student Life.
