Maryam Jahanshahi

Maryam is a Research Scientist at TapRecruit, a software company focused on using data-driven insights to improve the fairness and efficiency of recruiting.

Maryam has more than 10 years’ experience in experimental design and statistical analysis and has developed expertise in applied social and organizational psychology as well as data science, computational linguistics, and machine learning. Her research program integrates these different approaches to generate a holistic view of how language and behaviors affect decision-making at multiple stages of the hiring process. 

An experimental biologist by training, Maryam holds a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Melbourne and a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Melbourne. Maryam co-organizes the New York Strategic HR Analytics meetup. She is also a member of academic bodies that advance behavioral research (American Psychological Association, Society for Personality and Social Psychology and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues).
