Omar Chakhtoun was born and raised in Morocco. He studied Mathematics for his Bachelor of Science degree at Fez University, Morocco. He worked as a math teacher for fifth and sixth grades at Excel Elementary School in Fez, Morocco before getting a Master of Science in Mathematics at The City College of New York and a Doctorate in Mathematics at the CUNY Graduate Center in 2019. He began working at CUNY since 2008 teaching courses ranging from basic mathematics, Precalculus, Calculus I,II & III, Statistics, Quantitative Reasoning, Mathematics for Health Sciences, Linear Algebra, Mathematics for Respiratory Therapy, and a first course in probability for students majoring in actuarial studies. Professor Chakhtoun is concentrating on Calculus and Remedial Mathematics. His goals are to improve the Calculus experience for students and improve passing rates in Remedial Mathematics courses.
Professor Chakhoun’s research interest is in Probability Theory and stochastics differential equations. While at home, Professor Chakhtoun enjoys reading Arabic, French and English literatures and running.
