Agenting 101: Beyond the Basics

This course is designed as a continuation of PUBB1-GC 3411 The Role of the Literary Agent, which deals mostly with the early stages of representing an author and the path to publication. Workshop in Literary Agenting will explore the next phase of the author-agent relationship including the launch of the book, the first year of publication, and long-term management of the author¿s career. In addition, the course will explore in greater depth contracts and royalty statements, subsidiary rights including foreign, translation and production rights, salaries and commissions in the business, and the career trajectory of an agent.
